How we have Advanced!

According to many Science Fiction pieces of the past by now, we are supposed to be living in advanced space stations and colonies on the moon with robot servants and the technology to provide robotic body parts. Well, we haven't gotten that far, so does this mean that such writers and film makers were on the wrong path? Not entirely. It seems that science fiction may not be fiction for much longer. According to 2001 A Space Odyssey, space travel is meant to be a common affair by now in which people take space flights much like the plane trips we take now. It is now 2006 and we haven't reached this level yet, however we are getting close. Tourist flights into space are happening, artificial intelligence seems to be edging nearer and even cloning has become more than just a theory. We may laugh at authors and film makers who predicted such the future to be far more than it is now, however as time goes on their predictions appear to be coming true. Therefore it is probably safe to say that our world has not paid a whole lot of attention to the warnings of science fiction writers and film makers. This does not mean that we are heading towards disaster, however it demonstrates man's determination to continually advance themselves, without any thought of the consequences...
